The European project Climate-Ready Barcelona kicks off this July with an initial meeting of partner entities, including the Barcelona City Council , the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering CIMNE , Bit Genoma Solucions Digitales, ABD and the Ecoservei Association.yes

Climate-Ready Barcelona aims to support residents of the city of Barcelona to adapt and prepare for the impacts of climate change and the associated energy challenges. This is why the project was launched to offer innovative energy awareness services to users of the Energy Advice Points (PAE) and to develop a map of the climate vulnerability of households. All this, based on data that can help the city make climate-related decisions.

But that’s not all. The project is expected to collect and analyze data in order to issue recommendations so that local policymakers can implement interventions against climate inequality and, at the same time, these initiatives will be integrated with other personalized energy advisory actions that promote the energy rehabilitation of buildings and the development of energy sovereignty plans.

During the first meeting, objectives were shared and the main actions planned within the different blocks of the project were defined. From coordination to budget or communication, through to the development of the resulting products (such as the housing vulnerability map, the improvement of the La Meva Energia application or the political recommendations that should serve to create an action plan for adapting to climate change).

The project will run from 2023 to July 2025, and is funded by the ICLEI Action Fund .
