Climate emergency and opportunities for youth participation
After an interruption in 2020 due to COVID-19, the Sustainable Energy Forum returns as a space for reflection on the sustainable use of energy, renewable energies and the promotion of the use and access to energy as a right.
The XXII edition of our annual meeting is dedicated to the search for sustainable models of participation of the young population when defining the climate actions of public administrations. Under the title “Climate emergency and opportunities for youth participation”, FES 2021 explores answers to a central question: Is the emergence of youth movements around the climate emergency an opportunity to consolidate the participation of young people in the design of local public policies?
Between September and December 2020, the Youth and Climate Policy cycle was held, organized by Ecoserveis as part of the Palau Macaya call for reflections. Young people, municipal technicians and professionals from different sectors met to analyze, through conferences and participatory sessions, mechanisms to include young people’s demands in local policies, prepare a work guide to convey the protest and make proposals that are permanently integrated into climate policies.
