Description
TESSe2b – a project funded by the European Commission through the H2020 program – develops a comprehensive solution for residential buildings through the thermal storage of renewable energy.
Through the TESSe2b project, a low-cost and modular thermal storage technology is designed, developed, validated and demonstrated, taking as a starting point solar collectors and high-efficiency geothermal heat pumps for heating, cooling and domestic hot water (DHW) production.
Three pilot facilities (in Austria, Spain and Cyprus) are evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of the technology using compact thermal storage tanks with phase change materials and an intelligent energy control system.
The final objective of the project is to develop a technology that allows thermal storage of the combination of renewable sources, with the aim of correcting the mismatch that often occurs between energy supply and demand in residential buildings.
Ecoserveis participation
We are responsible for the project in Spain and manage the pilot test in Calonge de Segarra.
Objectives
- Develop and evaluate a low-cost thermal storage technology.
- Correct the mismatch between energy supply and demand in residential buildings.
Some results
- 3 pilot tests, 1 of them in Catalonia.
- An energy saving of 30% is expected.
