Description
As the EU moves towards sustainable energy, co-creation is the future of the energy services market. This brings about a shift in the balance of power, turning customers into a new generation of collaborators and placing them at the heart of the energy sector. The SENDER project will develop energy services applications for proactive demand response (DR), home comfort and security mechanisms. By involving customers in a co-creation process, the project will shift DR from a reactive to a proactive approach. Consumer data will be collected and processed to identify typical consumption patterns, mirroring them using digital twins (DTs) based on artificial intelligence technologies and aggregating the supply/demand characteristics of the DTs.
Ecoserveis participation
Ecoserveis will contribute to the specification of a proactive demand response system by working on the definition of consumer engagement strategies (WP3). In addition, Ecoserveis will also be responsible for the coordination of the implementation, working on consumer engagement in the pilots, supervising the installation of equipment, demonstration and monitoring, and will also supervise the analysis of the results (WP7).
Objectives
The overall objective of SENDER is to develop and test the next generation of energy service applications for demand response, home automation and comfort. The project will place consumers at the center of the energy market, engaging them in a co-creation process with other energy domain actors during the specification of active DR mechanisms to address long-term consumer incentives.
In this line, the results of the project:
- They will increase the efficiency/capacity of distribution networks by improving the quality of load forecasts and providing access to load flexibility, which will allow for improved frequency stability, congestion management and greater integration of renewables. In addition, participation in balancing/regulating power markets will provide revenue generation from flexibility potential.
- They will change demand response from a reactive to a proactive approach.
- They will collect and process consumer data to identify typical consumption patterns and create digital twins (DTs) based on artificial intelligence technologies and aggregate TD supply/demand characteristics.
- They will allow interoperability with legacy systems and third-party applications.
