Sustainability strategy for greener and more inclusive sporting events

Description

The GREEN TEAM project aims to promote sustainable and inclusive sports events by highlighting cooperation between the local actors involved. GREEN TEAM aims to encourage sports federations (more than 10,000 of them in Europe), administrations and companies in the sports sector to be more sustainable and inclusive when organising sports events. To do this, we will first create a sustainability seal in sport. The confederations will deliver it to the federations, who can achieve this by taking an online course (which will lay the foundations for the theoretical part) and holding a sustainable sports event (the practical part). To accompany this learning, manuals and audiovisual materials (with a low environmental impact) will be created for sports confederations, federations, the private sector and administrations.

Likewise, with the aim of promoting inclusion, sustainability campaigns will be accompanied by the promotion and the necessary mechanisms to integrate groups at risk of exclusion into sports participation. GREEN TEAM was created to further promote active citizenship and healthy habits through the care of the environment and its inhabitants. Thus, this project aims to harness the power of sport to contribute to the necessary fight against climate change and promote more resilient, diverse and egalitarian societies.

Create links between the different agents in the territory to raise awareness among the sports sector, the administration and the public about the importance of sustainable sports events.
Design and implement the concept of a sustainability seal (with digital learning) for confederations and federations.
Create a methodology for more ecological and inclusive sporting events.
