Comparative Assessment for Sports Sustainability
Project description
In recent times, and due to the consequences of climate change that affect the whole world, environmental sustainability has become a fundamental pillar in the governance of organizations in all sectors. And the sports sector is no exception.
Citizens, organizations and governments are increasingly aware of environmental challenges and the need to adopt sustainable practices in all areas of life. Despite this growing awareness in recent years, it seems that, even if managers of sports organizations want to improve their sustainability practices, it can be very difficult to know if they are on the right track due to the general lack of information.
The B4SS project aims to create a dynamic control panel with standardized indicators that allow sports clubs to know the environmental impact of their activity, compare it with other clubs and access good practices to optimize the efficiency of their facilities over the years.
B4SS wants to unite five European Union countries with the aim of ensuring widespread adoption of the tool by various sports organizations.

Objectives
The Benchmarking for Sports Sustainability (B4SS) project aims to create an innovative and dynamic dashboard with standardized indicators that allow sports clubs to know the environmental impact of their activity, compare it with other clubs and access “good practices” to optimize the efficiency of their facilities over the years. This analysis should allow sports organizations to create a reference framework to manage themselves better. In addition, it will be of great value for these organizations to have a tool that allows them to automatically identify and analyze key indicators, consult them and avoid future unfavorable situations, as well as achieve a true environmental transformation.
Therefore, the specific objectives of B4SS are:
• Improve the focus of other European or local projects regarding sport, the environment and digital solutions for sport.
• Deliver a list of ratios and data that offer a realistic view of a club’s environmental performance.
• Obtain data from relevant actors within sports clubs.
• Find the best solution to offer feedback through dynamic dashboards.
• Prepare a questionnaire adapted to a platform.
• Create a platform that can absorb data and display visualizations automatically.
• Develop specific resources to promote good management practices in European sports organizations.
