Benchmarking for Sport Sustainability
Project description
In recent times and because the entire world is suffering the consequences of climate change, environmental sustainability has become a fundamental pillar in the governance of organizations in all sectors. And the sports sector is no exception.
Citizens, organisations, and governments are increasingly aware of environmental challenges and the need to adopt sustainable practices in all areas of life. However, this widespread awareness in recent years, it seems that even if managers of sport organisations aim to improve their sustainability practices, it can be very difficult for them to know whether they are on the right track due to a general lack of information.
The B4SS project aims to create a dynamic dashboard with standardized indicators through which sports clubs can be aware of the environmental impact of their activity, compare it with other clubs, and have best practices to optimize the efficiency of their facilities over the years.
B4SS aims to unite five European Union countries, with the goal of ensuring widespread adoption of the tool by various sports organizations.
Ecoserveis' role
Project partner. Leading the state-of-the art on Sustainability and environmental best practices in sport facilities.
Goals
The Benchmarking for Sports Sustanaibility (B4SS) project aims to create an innovative and dynamic dashboard with standardized indicators through which sports clubs can be aware of the environmental impact of their activity, can compare it with other clubs, and can have “best practices” to optimize the efficiency of their facilities over the years. This analysis should enable sport organisations to create a benchmarking framework to better manage themselves. Furthermore, it will be of great value for sport organisations to have a tool that allows them to identify and analyse key indicators automatically, to be able to consult and avoid future unfavourable situations, as well as to achieve true environmental transformation.
Hence B4SS specific objectives are to:
• Improve the approach done by other European or local projects in terms of Sports and environment and digital solutions for Sport.
• Deliver a list of ratios and data that could give a realistic picture of the environmental performance of a club.
• Get data from relevant players within sports clubs.
• Find the best solution for delivering the feedback via dynamic dashboards.
• Prepare a questionnaire adapted to a platform.
• Create a platform that can absorb the data and display visualizations automatically.
• elaborate specific resources to promote good practices of management for European Sport Organisations.
